To no-one's surprise, we are heavy commercial users of the Rust programming language at Defined Once. Rust showed that there is a clear market for carefully crafted, maintainable and reliable software and it has allowed us to work on the most interesting systems engineering projects, all while having to sacrifice neither velocity nor fun.
We are thus excited to announce that Defined Once is a founding member of the Rust Commercial Network (RCN) at the Rust Foundation. From the perspective of companies that face specific challenges with Rust adoption, the RCN facilitates the dicsussion to find common ground on those issues and work towards finding effective solutions that work for everyone. We attend regular meetings and work groups specific to the needs of our clients. Furthermore, the RCN is a channel to stay on top of latest developments as well as tracking important Rust project goals. We look forward to open collaboration with enterprise users and making contributions to help further bridge the adoption gap.
The RCN is made up of mostly companies who use Rust in production, organized by Lori Lorusso (Director of Outreach at the Rust Foundation) and steered by Jess Izen (AWS), Scott McNew (Canonical), Vitaly Bragilevsky (JetBrains), Jonas Kruckenberg (Mainmatter), Roxana Hadad, Ph.D. (Processing Foundation), and David Wood (Rust Project Compiler Team Co-Lead, Rust Foundation Project Director).
